Worldcoin Integrations
Worldcoin, a collaborative venture of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, recently announced an update to its protocol that includes new app integrations with platforms such as Telegram, Reddit, Minecraft, Shopify, and Mercado Libre. This update, known as “World ID 2.0,” aims to enhance the distinction between bots and genuine human users online while preserving privacy.
Worldcoin’s platform already boasted integrations with Discord, Talent Protocol, and Okta’s Auth0. The implementation of “World ID 2.0” further expands the list of compatible platforms.
Worldcoin’s “humanness digital passport” empowers individuals to verify their identity as human to apps and services without disclosing their personal information. This feature enables brands to verify that their products and services are utilized as intended.
Worldcoin distributes its WLD token to users who register for the service. Currently, close to five million individuals possess a World ID, and more than 2.5 million have verified their humanity using an orb device.
The geographic reach of Worldcoin’s orb devices continues to grow, with the devices now available in 12 countries, including the U.S., Germany, Spain, and South Korea. The expansion efforts have not been without challenges; the project was temporarily suspended in Kenya earlier this year due to concerns raised by public agencies.
